Continuing the Traditions...Handmade in Brown County
represents 100% Brown County Artists exhibiting their works of Art in Ceramics, Fiber, Glass, Metal, Paper, Stone and Wood.
Our gallery was singled out by Midwest Living Magazine, in the November-December 2008 issue, as a favorite of all the over 275 stores in Nashville!
We are unlike other Nashville establishments because we sell direct from artist to customer, avoiding costs of middle handlers, and most of our merchandise is one-of-a-kind. New work arrives everyday when artists come in to work their shifts in the gallery and works turn over quickly because of the high quality and relatively low costs. We invite custom work, have a gift registry and lay-a-way plans.
History:
Artists have come for over a century to live and work in Brown County, IN where they have been photographed, studied and written about. As the reputation of the area has grown, so has the little town of Nashville, now known as The Artist Colony of the Midwest, yet it has become increasingly difficult to find local art in town.
Seven professional Brown County artists joined together in August 2008 to open a new gallery, Handmade in Brown County. Here one will find only local art of the highest quality and artists working everyday making metal, wood and paper jewelry, sculpture, photography, handmade paper, drawings, paintings, etc.
Artists/owners are on hand daily to help shoppers select fine handmade personal accessories as well functional and decorative items for home and office.
Originally located just east of the Brown County Courthouse in Nashville, our gallery will re open in Fall 2010only 10 minutes from Nashville. The new facility will include our gallery, a museum, studios, tea room and frequent special events with free parking.
Handmade in Brown County will be open Friday thru Monday from 10:30 AM until 5:30 PM.
We invite you to come in to meet us, see our works of art and visit our website often.
